Message to Bonitas beneficiaries:
Bonitas respects the roles of both general practitioners and specialists in healthcare and is in the process of developing funding solutions to benefit all role-players.
The Bonitas general practitioner (GP) network currently has more than 4600 contracted doctors. It is the biggest GP network in the country and continues to grow daily. Already over 85% of Bonitas members use a network GP.
The Bonitas GP network rules are applicable to the Primary and Standard options only.
The benefits of consulting a Bonitas GP network doctor:
- All network GPs have agreed to charge the medical scheme rate so that beneficiaries will not have to pay an additional fee when visiting a network GP.
- Bonitas is supporting the provision of quality care through the contracted network.
What if a beneficiary’s GP is not on the network?
- Please encourage your GP to join the network. You can also call 0860 00 2160 or email nc@medscheme.co.za and provide the details of your doctor. The healthcare professional contracting team will follow up with the GP.
- You can look for an alternative GP on the network by using the “GP locator tool” on the website www.bonitasmedicalfund.co.za.
